[arv-put] progress update does not refresh frequently enough

Description

Running arv-put of 2 files totaling ~12 GiB of data, the progress updater showed:

192M (~30 sec wait)
  5582M (~30 sec wait)
  9982M (~30 sec wait)
 12269M (done)

arv-put should update the progress bar every second or so.
