Because I didn't build a 2.7.1 SDK release for Java (because nothing had changed since 2.7.0) we decided the easiest thing to do is to make a 2.7.1 java SDK release with this PR included and retroactively call it 2.7.1.

Actually, there were two branches to cherry-pick, 21219-java-sdk-pr-220 and 21277-github-pr-221.

I built and release 2.7.1 with just the 220 PR.

So now I'm doing a 2.7.1.1 with the 221 PR as well...

I'm adding this to part of 2.7.2 so when we do 2.7.2, we'll build a package as well.
