#8815's description expected crunchrunner to be "automatically installed on compute & shell nodes" but here we're only asking for compute nodes. I'm guessing the "shell nodes" part was meant to help crunch-job to work in dev/local mode, and that its omission here wasn't accidental rather than meaningful. OTOH, it only makes sense if dev/local mode is actually expected to work...
Meanwhile,
8831-crunchrunner-doc @ db276b8 adds crunchrunner to compute node dependencies; doesn't touch shell nodes.

You followed the rationale in #8815 right, I think. You have to have crunchrunner installed in $PATH anywhere you use crunch-job's local run mode on a job that uses the crunchrunner Crunch script. Installing it on the shell nodes helps with that.
I think I would vote that we document it as a shell node dependency, because even if crunch-job's local run mode doesn't work now, it's one less thing we have to catch up with later when we get that working again. But I can see both sides of it, so if you'd rather not, that's fine with me.

This looks good to me. If you make the analogous change to the shell node install guide too, that's fine too. Thanks.
